Meet Rick Silva

Rick Silva is running to bring proven experience and a focus on results to Lansing. He’s committed to lowering costs, strengthening communities, and delivering for working families.
Rick Silva candidate for State Representative in Michigan’s 9th House District. He was raised in a family that worked hard to make ends meet his mom had him young, and his grandmother played a big role in helping raise him while his mom worked to build her life. That experience shaped how he sees the world and why he believes people who do everything right should still be able to get ahead.
Rick has spent his career in public service organizing, working in government, and most recently in education staying close to the people and communities he’s fighting for. You see quickly what’s working and what’s not. Too many families are being stretched thin, dealing with rising costs and systems that aren’t delivering the way they should.
That’s what pushed him to run. He’s not interested in politics, he’s running because he’s seen how decisions made in Lansing affect real people, and too often those decisions aren’t being made with them in mind.
Rick and his wife Kimberly live in Corktown, where they’re getting ready to welcome their first child this June. They also have a dog, Atticus, and a cat, Roman. This moment in his life makes this work even more personal he’s thinking about the kind of future they’re building for their family and for families across the district.
As a leader, Rick will be focused on results fighting for working people, being clear about where he stands, and staying accountable to the people he represents.
